Megyn Kelly, a media commentator, brought to light a photograph from 1999 showing Bill Clinton in proximity to two young women. This occurred on her television program, just before Clinton was due to testify before the House Oversight Committee concerning his previous association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
"Bill was not shamed at all — after the Monica Lewinsky scandal — out of his hound dog behavior, to put it mildly," Kelly remarked, referencing Clinton's historical controversies.
The image, captured at the Bombay Club in Washington, D.C., was shown to the public as part of the broader scrutiny Clinton is facing over his ties to Epstein. Clinton, who was President at the time of the photograph, appears standing behind the two women, one of whom Kelly identified as her friend, Meg Florence, with another friend, Abby Rittman, in the foreground.
During the broadcast, Kelly described the scene depicted in the photograph without making direct accusations of misconduct. "I’m not saying this is a crime," she clarified, allowing viewers to draw their own conclusions from the visual evidence presented.
The release of the photo comes at a critical juncture, as Clinton's closed-door testimony in Chappaqua, New York, was scheduled to take place later that day. Republican members of the House Oversight Committee have expressed interest in learning more about the extent of Clinton's interaction with Epstein, who faced numerous allegations of sexual abuse before his death.
Previously, Clinton has admitted to traveling on Epstein's private jet for philanthropic activities related to the Clinton Foundation in the early 2000s. However, he has consistently denied any knowledge of Epstein's illicit actions and refuted claims of visiting Epstein's private island, a location where abuse is alleged to have occurred.
As the photograph began to spread across social media platforms, it elicited a plethora of reactions. While some individuals considered it indicative of Clinton's controversial history, others did not view it as evidence of wrongdoing. The photograph's emergence was framed by Kelly as additional context for the deposition that was being documented and is expected to be made public following a review by Clinton's legal team.
The ongoing investigation by the House Oversight Committee includes examining documents, testimonies, and photographic materials related to Epstein's connections. Clinton's testimony is anticipated to shed light on the nature of his interactions with Epstein and any potential awareness of the financier's criminal behavior.
