A mother in Marietta, Georgia, utilized a gas pump hose to fend off an individual who allegedly attempted to kidnap one of her children during a late-night encounter at a Shell gas station. The incident, which occurred shortly after midnight on July 23 at the Shell station on Delk Road, was captured on newly released surveillance footage and has led to the arrest of a suspect.

Marietta Police identified the alleged assailant as 30-year-old Jerahn Tucker. According to police reports, Tucker approached the family's vehicle while the mother was in the process of pumping gas. Investigators indicate that the situation rapidly escalated when Tucker allegedly began attempting to access the vehicle and move toward the children inside. The surveillance footage corroborates these accounts, showing Tucker maneuvering around the vehicle as one child appeared to try to distance themselves from him. The footage further depicts Tucker allegedly opening the rear passenger door, where another child was seated.
As the confrontation intensified, authorities stated that the mother instinctively stepped between Tucker and her children. Demonstrating remarkable composure and resourcefulness under pressure, she grabbed the gas pump hose and employed it to create distance and keep Tucker away, all while prioritizing the protection of her children. The tense moments were also witnessed by two bystanders at the gas station, who are seen in the footage dropping their belongings and rushing to assist the mother, remaining by her side until law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Marietta Police Department spokesperson Charles McPhilamy lauded the courageous actions of both the mother and the witnesses. Following the confrontation, police reported that Tucker departed the gas station in his vehicle. Upon his arrest, police noted that Tucker was not wearing a shirt or shoes. Additionally, officers reportedly discovered a THC vape inside his vehicle. Further details emerging from the investigation revealed that the manager of the Shell station had previously removed Tucker from the property on multiple occasions, suggesting a history of disruptive behavior at the location.
