The investigation escalated the following day when detectives executed a search warrant at Taele’s Downey home. The search yielded a significantly larger cache of weapons and gear, including an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45 caliber handgun, body armor, and several high-capacity magazines. Investigators also seized notebooks from the residence that reportedly contained “concerning statements,” alongside a pair of radio communication devices.
Taele now faces charges related to carrying a concealed firearm and possessing banned ammunition, specifically hollow-point bullets, which are outlawed for civilian use in California. Detectives have also identified him as a person of interest in an unrelated robbery case in El Segundo, a nearby city. Despite the extensive nature of the discovery, sheriff’s officials have sought to reassure the public, stating there is “no credible threat to our communities” as the investigation continues.
